Spring 2025 Hair Trends: Fresh Styles for a Bold New You
With the arrival of spring comes the opportunity to start fresh—whether that’s by wearing a new fragrance or by trying out spring 2025 hair trends. As temperatures finally start to warm up, there are plenty of exciting styles set to take over our social media feeds. In fact, some of these looks, you may have already gotten a glimpse of on recent red carpets.
According to Clayton Hawkins, a Dove celebrity hairstylist, who has worked with Olivia Rodrigo, Margaret Qualley, and Ashley Park, “Spring 2025 is all about shiny, bouncy, healthy hair.” He adds that the bouncier blowout look is coming for the messy beach waves of yesteryear.
In terms of cuts, Nexxus celebrity hairstylist Clariss Rubenstein, who styled Leighton Meester (and her bangs) for the Golden Globes, says it may be time to bring out the scissors. “I’m seeing tons of short bobs and French-girl bob styles.” And with shorter cuts comes the excitement of playing with new hair styles and accessories. We’ve been seeing head scarves everywhere, which just so happen to look trés chic with a perky bob cut.
To help keep us on the pulse of all that’s new and trending in the hair world, Hawkins and Rubenstein share more of the best spring 2025 hair trends below.
Polished Curls
What used to be known as a bombshell blowout has gotten a spring 2025 update. Rather than incorporating sexy texture, the name of the game for this hair trend is shiny and smooth. “I like to use Velcro rollers while blowing out the hair, setting each section after it’s dry,” says Hawkins. “Then before I use my jumbo one-and-a-half-inch curling iron, I apply a healthy amount of Dove Intensive Repair 10-in-1 Serum as a heat protectant. It also provides crazy mirrorlike shine.” Bonus: This works great on pretty much all lengths and textures, although it’s especially stunning on longer tresses as seen on Rodrigo here.
Old Money Bob
Rubenstein refers to this classic cut as easy to style and low-maintenance. Bob haircuts have reigned supreme the past couple of years, with each season bringing a new “modern twist.”
“This cut lends itself to the old money trend that exudes quiet luxury,” Rubenstein says. A bob is also particularly pretty when styled super shiny. Try a spray with a heat protectant built in, like Nexxus Epic Shine Anti-Humidity Spray; this is especially helpful as short hair often requires touch-ups with a hot tool.
Y2K Updos
Hawkins says that sleek updos are back in a major way this year (thanks to our Y2K obsession), and they’re especially useful as temperatures start to heat up. While there tons of great sticks and gels for slicking back your style, Hawkins lets us in on a little secret: “I like to actually put my client’s hair in a mask when I do a sleek look. That way it’s repairing the hair while we’re styling. These days I’m obsessed with the Dove Intensive Repair 10-in-1 Serum Mask.”
Lived-In Layers
You can never go wrong with a lived-in look. “Lived-in layers are super feminine and pretty,” says Rubenstein. “They’re timeless, but the lived-in factor gives an effortless feel. A good cut should grow out beautifully.”
All this to say: Make sure you find a good stylist. They’ll give you a cut that will look great no matter how much time passes. (I’m proof: Rubenstein gave me my own haircut a whopping 15 months ago and it still looks great. However, we definitely recommend more frequent cuts to keep hair healthy.)
Sporty Headbands
The Blair Waldorf padded headband had its resurgence, but this spring we’ll be seeing more athletic styles that are just as at home on the runway as they are in the gym. We love that this is a five-second style booster for truly all hair types, textures, and lengths. Plus, it’s a quick fix to conceal greasy hair.
Bangs, Bangs, and More Bangs
If you’ve been dreaming about getting some face-framing fringe for a while now, we’re officially granting you permission to take the plunge. It’s all about finding the style that’s right for you. An important factor to consider is your face shape; curtain bangs like Kiernan Shipka’s tend to work across the board, whereas side bangs or straight bangs will work well for longer faces or more angular faces, respectively.
Effortless Blowout
“Find the tools that help you do the best blowout,” says Rubenstein. “For some, it’s a classic blow-dryer and brush, but many other tools work well if you’re not a pro.” And lucky for those who may not be as skilled in the blowout department, there are plenty of blowout brushes on the market that eliminate the guesswork and give the appearance of having a professional on speed dial. One of our faves is the Mane It’s Giving Body Thermal Round Brush.
Rich Chocolate Brown
In terms of trending spring hair colors, Rubenstein says, “Rich, warm chocolate brunette hair color will be popular.” Plus, darker shades are better able to show ample shine, which is another major spring 2025 hair trend. Up the ante with a few expertly placed highlights like Madison Bailey’s, which really pop on the curls she wore to the Coach ready-to-wear fall 2025 fashion show.
Snatched Ponytail
If traditional updos aren’t your thing, you can always get in on the trend with an elevated ponytail. For this look, you may want to skip the hair mask, as the lengths and ends of your hair will be left loose. Whether you want to straighten ends for a liquid hair look or add some bends for a looser feel is up to you, but we recommend incorporating a stick such as R+Co Dart Hair Wax to get the most snatched slick-back.
Accessorized Side Part
Millennials, rejoice! Side parts are so back. After an era of middle parts, we can once again part our hair to the side. A side part complements pretty much every face shape and dresses up a look, especially when paired with a hair clip or accessory. We also love a good side part with a bob or to help add volume to finer strands.
